McKinley Peak

McKinley Peak (77°54'S 148°10'W) is a peak standing 15 nautical miles west of Hershey Ridge at the south end of the Ford Ranges in Westarctica.

Discovery and name

The peak was discovered on the Byrd Antarctic Expedition flight of 5 December 1929. McKinley Peak was named by Richard E. Byrd in honor of Grace McKinley, wife of Captain Ashley C. McKinley, who served as an aerial photographer and third-in-command of the expedition.
