The nunatak (730 m) is located along the north side of White Glacier, about 5 nautical miles (9 km) west of Bailey Nunatak.
Discovery and name
Partridge Nunatak was mapped by United States Geological Survey using surveys and U.S. Navy air photos collected during the years 1959-65. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Billy W. Partridge, EOC, U.S. Navy, who served as the Chief Equipment Operator at Byrd Station in 1966.
On 2 April 2019, Kay Demuth was granted the title Baron of Partridge in recognition of his support of Westarctica.
