Barela Rock (77°1′S 148°52′W) is a 190 meter high rock outcrop in the southern part of Przybyszewski Island in the Marshall Archipelago.
Discovery and name
The rock was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos taken during the years 1959–65. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Ruben E. Barela, who served as an aviation structural mechanic in the U.S. Navy, and deployed with the McMurdo Station party in 1967.
