The '''Encyclopedia Westarctica''' allows those who make contributions here to do so only under certain copyright terms.  We do ''not'' allow the re-publication of previously published and fully copyright protected text or images without the written consent of the original author, but we do allow the original author of any work to add that work to our Encyclopedia. By uploading such work to our website, it is to be understood that such work may end up being reproduced elsewhere, and without anyone's permission having been asked for first.  Neither may you restrict your work in such a way that no other person could reproduce it for monetary compensation of some kind, if they so chose. Unless otherwise specified, the works you see on the Encyclopedia Westarctica have either previously been released into the public domain, are derived from a freely licensed source such as [https://commons.wikimedia.org/|Wikimedia Commons], or have been created ''de novo'' by one of our editors under the presumption of the above terms, and should be treated and credited accordingly.
The Encyclopedia Westarctica is the result of creative efforts by hundreds of individuals who have licensed their text, image(s), audios, or videos (herein referred to as the ''Work'') to be freely reproduced here. By submitting any work to the Encyclopedia Westarctica the Submitter avers that the work is either in the public domain or that the Submitter is the sole or joint Copyright holder with authority to grant its use, including possible commercial reuse without compensation, both here and elsewhere. For Copyrighted work, the Submitter grants to the Encyclopedia a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, worldwide rights to publish, reproduce, make derivatives use and to distribute the Work in any media for the duration of the Copyright. If the Encyclopedia uses any of the Work in its products or services, it agrees to provide proper notice and attribution to the copyright holder if requested to do so under the terms of the license by which the work was granted.

If you identify any text or imagery on our site which you have reason to believe has been placed here in violation of the terms of any known copyright, you should contact our webmaster at info@westarctica.info immediately and ask that the offending material be removed.  Your inquiry will be given immediate attention, and if there is even any doubt as to the nature of the violation, the material will be withdrawn from our site post haste.
Submitter hereby warrant and represent that he or she has the full right, power, and authority to grant the permission requested herein and that use of the work will not violate any rights of any third party. Submitter further agrees that if the above representations concerning copyright ownership are determined to be incorrect or false, resulting in copyright infringement, that Submitter shall indemnify the Encyclopedia for any resulting out-of-pocket expenses arising from defending and/or settling such litigation.

Commensurate with this, the Encyclopedia refuses to host any work which is fully protected by copyright, and will remove any such work it discovers.  If you have concerns about any part of the Encyclopedia which you believe infringes on a copyright, you are asked to contact us at info@westarctica.info and request that the offending material be removed.  Your inquiry will be given immediate attention, and if there is any doubt as to the nature of the violation, the material will be withdrawn from the site.

The Encyclopedia Westarctica is the result of creative efforts by hundreds of individuals who have licensed their text, image(s), audios, or videos (herein referred to as the Work) to be freely reproduced here.
