History

The Institute grew out of Westarctica's mission to educate the public about Climate Change and it associated threats to the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. It began with a single training course, the Honorary Consul Training Course, which was launched in 2016 to help prepare Foreign Office diplomats for the duties as representatives of Westarctica in their home countries.

In early 2020, additional courses of study were developed and the Institute was launched to serve as a home for all current and future educational initiatives.
