==Discovery and name==&lt;br /&gt;
The rim was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from [[U.S. Navy]] tricamera aerial photos during the years 1959–66. Bucher Rim was named by the Advisory Committee on [[Antarctic]] Names in honor of Peter Bucher of the University of Bern, Switzerland, United States Antarctic Research Program glaciologist who worked at [[Byrd Station]] during the 1969–70 research season.&lt;br /&gt;
