==Discovery and name==
The peak was surveyed by the United States [[Antarctic]] Research Program [[Horlick Mountains]] Traverse party in December 1958. Knox Peak was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Antarctic cartographer Arthur S. Knox, who worked for the Branch of Special Maps, U.S. Geological Survey.

On 9 July 2020, Jerrime Oliver was granted the [[Peerage of Westarctica|peerage title]] Count of Knox in recognition of his support of Westarctica.
