The '''Most Honorable Order of Kolios''' is the highest [[Orders and Decorations of Kolios|Order of Kolios]]. The intention of the order is to honor those who have provided a service to [[Principality of Kolios|Kolios]]. It was created on 20 September 1995. Membership in the order is currently awarded by [[Grand Duke Travis]] of [[Westarctica]], as the Sovereign of Kolios.

==History of the Order==

The order was created the day that the then Kingdom of Kolios was founded as the lower of two orders. When Kolios became a principality within the Empire of Agber in 1998, the [[Sanctified Order of the Crucifix]] was designated as an order of the Empire. This move left the Order of Kolios as the only order exclusive to the Principality, making it the highest order, by default. When the Sanctified Order of the Crucifix was returned to Kolios in 2020, the Order of Kolios retained its position as the highest honor.

The order was overhauled as a part of the sweeping changes enacted by [[Duke of the Bear Peninsula|Prince Garibald]] upon assuming the throne on 26 February 2022. These included a redesign of the regalia, contracting the number of levels to two, changing the name to the Most Honorable Order of Kolios, and the removal of the title "Dame," making all members of the order Knights.

==Membership==

There are two classes of the Order, each with their own unique regalia:

* '''Knight''' which is denoted by the wear of a medallion of the order affixed to a green necklet. Members may elect to wear the medallion attached to a green bow, which is the style of wear traditionally reserved for women.
* '''Knight Commander''' which is denoted by the wear of the badge (sometimes called star) of the order.

The order previously had a third rank: Knight (or Dame) Grand Cross. This rank was removed from the order as a part of Prince Garibald's restructuring.

===Sovereign of the Order===
The order has had four presiding Sovereigns throughout its existence The first three of these were as the head of a fully sovereign Kolios: King Stephen, Queen (later Princess) Arlene, and Prince Garibald. Despite having the shortest reign of the three, Prince Garibald inducted more members into the order than both of his predecessors combined.

The current Sovereign and font of honor for the order is [[Grand Duke Travis]] of [[Westarctica]]. This is a result of Kolios' status as a protectorate of Westarctica, making him the reigning monarch of Kolios. While his current rank of Knight Commander officially is equal in precedence with others who hold that rank, his status as ''Member Ex-Officio'' gives him functional precedence within the order. The head of the order is allowed the wear of a green sash accompanied by the order's cordon.
