==Discovery and name==&lt;br /&gt;
The mountain was discovered on aerial flights from the West Base of the United States [[Antarctic]] Service in 1940. Mount Darling was named in honor of Professor Chester A. Darling of Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania.&lt;br /&gt;
