==Discovery and name==
Mount Ferranto was discovered by a sledging party of the Byrd [[Antarctic]] Expedition which visited this area in November–December 1934. The mountain was named in honor of Felix Ferranto, a radio and tractor operator with the United States Antarctic Service during the years 1939–41.

==Peerage title==
On 25 June 2020, Giacomo Salviati was granted the [[Peerage of Westarctica|peerage title]] Duke of Ferranto in recognition of his support of Westarctica.
