	On 8 July 2023, [[Grand Duke Travis]] granted the [[Peerage of Westarctica\|peerage title]] Countess of Mooney to Sophie Meis, the [[Justices of the Grand Ducal Court of Westarctica\|Fourth Justice]] of the [[Grand Ducal Court]] in recognition of her support of Westarctica.		On 8 July 2023, [[Grand Duke Travis]] granted the [[Peerage of Westarctica\|peerage title]] Countess of Mooney to Sophie Meis, the [[Justices of the Grand Ducal Court of Westarctica\|Fourth Justice]] of the [[Grand Ducal Court]] in recognition of her support of Westarctica. Her title was bestowed by the Grand Duke in person at the Waterloo Battlefield in Waterloo, Belgium the day after [[MicroCon EU 2023]].

==Discovery and name==
The mountain was discovered in December 1934 by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition geological party under [[Quin Blackburn]]. Mount Mooney was named by [[Richard Byrd|Rear Admiral Byrd]] in honor of James E. Mooney, who assisted this and later Byrd expeditions. From 1959 to 1965, Mooney also served as Deputy United States Antarctic Projects Officer.
