New page

The Prahl Crags (76°4′S 134°43′W) are a group of rock crags at an elevation of 2,750 meters on the south slopes of the Mount Moulton in Westarctica.

Discovery and name
The crags were mapped by United States Geological Survey utilizing ground surveys and U.S. Navy air photos collected during the years 1959-66. Prahl Crags were named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Sidney R. Prahl, a member of the United States Antarctic Research Program team that studied ice sheet dynamics in the area northeast of Byrd Station during the 1971-72 research season.

Noble title
On 19 July 2019, Daniel Galgano was granted the peerage title Viscount Prahl in recognition of his support of Westarctica.
