==Discovery and name==&lt;br /&gt;
The nunatak was surveyed by the United States [[Antarctic]] Research Program [[Horlick Mountains]] Traverse party in December 1958. Tuning Nunatak was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Preston O. Tuning, who served as a meteorologist at [[Byrd Station]] in 1960.&lt;br /&gt;
