Her Ladyship, Yohanna Lourenço, First Baroness Hanna, is a Brazilian member of the Peerage of Westarctica and Lady-in-Waiting to Grand Duke Travis.

Involvement with Westarctica

In March 2023, the baroness accompanied Grand Duke Travis during the 2023 Reunion State Visit with Emperor Claudio I of Reunion in the historic quarter of Rio de Janeiro. As a teacher of English to local Brazilians and native speaker of Portuguese, it was thought her presence as a translator would be helpful should the need arise. However, during the State Visit, Emperor Claudio proved to have complete mastery of the English language and translation services were not essential to the success of the event.

Following the conclusion of the visit, Yohanna was honored as a Dame Commander in the Order of the Snowflake for her services to the Crown.

On 15 May 2023, she attended a State Dinner with Emperor Oscar of the Karnia-Ruthenia in São Paulo.

Royal Household

On 28 April 2023, Her Ladyship was given the ceremonial office of Lady-in-Waiting in the Royal Household of Grand Duke Travis.

Title

On 17 March 2023, she was granted the hereditary peerage title "Baroness Hannah." This title was named for Hannah Island, a small, ice-covered island in the Marshall Archipelago. The baroness was quick to point out that the shortened version of her name, "Hanna," does not have the additional "h" at the end; however, as the title was derived from the existing island and not her given name, it was deemed an incidental factor and the title was subsequently modified at her request.
