The Empire of Great Hanover known informally as Great Hanover is a micronation created by Sir James Murphy. Academically, Great Hanover may be regarded as both a successor state and a precursor state to the Kingdom of Scone and the Kingdom of Argonne. Internally, it does not generally consider itself to be a micronation and prefers the self-descriptive term miniature kingdom.
History
The Kingdom of Hanover was founded in 2002.
In 2022, the Kingdom of Hanover was superseded by the Kingdom of Great Hanover, when the Kingdom of Hanover, the Kingdom of Argonne, and the Principality of Inselwald were united to form a single state. King James had served as ruler over these domains at various points in history. Once they were unified together, Hanover, Argonne and Inselwald became administrative and cultural jurisdictions of the Kingdom of Great Hanover.
From kingdom to empire
On 31 December 2022, the Edict of Bergen was passed by the King. This had the effect of turning the Kingdom of Great Hanover into the Empire of Great Hanover with a council of Prince-Electors drawn from various territories of Great Hanover as well as other micronations. In accordance with the change in status, the Parliament of Hanover was dissolved and replaced by the Imperial Council.
Territories
Great Hanover is comprised of the fiefdoms of Brunswick, Gottingen, Guelph, Harburg, Emden, and Aspenwald.
Prince-Electors
The Prince-Electors are responsible for electing the Emperor of Great Hanover. They each exercise one vote granted to them by virtue of their electoral office, plus one additional vote for each imperial estate they hold.
At the moment of transition from kingdom to empire, 10 Prince-electors were created. Two are Electors Spiritual, two are Electors Extraordinary, and six are Electors Temporal.
