Matt Roth's largest undertaking so far has been his efforts to compile a visual ethnography of micronationalists. In the pursuit of his goal, he has attended numerous gatherings of micronations as well as visiting several micronations to photograph their citizens inside their sovereign territory.

He was responsible for creating a detailed photographic record of Westarctica's October 2017 invasion of Calsahara and served as an official combat photographer during the battle. In honor of his achievements in photography and as thanks for his service to the crown, he was knighted in Otisburg by Grand Duke Travis.

Sir Matthew also participated in the Summit Upon the Seas, photographing the joint meeting of delegations from Westarctica, Molossia, and Shiloh for a four-day cruise in international waters.
