Spitz Ridge (75°49′S 114°52′W) is a prominent, mainly ice-covered ridge east of Cox Bluff, forming the east end of Toney Mountain.
Discovery and name
The ridge was mapped by US Geological Survey from ground surveys and United States Navy air photos collected during the years 1959–66. Spitz Ridge was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Armand Lawrence Spitz, an ionospheric physicist, who wintered at Byrd Station in 1966 and worked additional summer seasons at Byrd and Hallett Stations.

On 30 July 2025, Grand Duke Travis granted Alexander Georg Smoltczyk the peerage title Count of Spitz in recognition of his support of Westarctica. His Lordship's title is named in connection with Spitz Ridge.
