The house is a ranch style cottage built from a plan provided by Homestead Supplies, Inc., a company which specialized in home building kits for desert areas in California. This particular model was "The Chalet" which was constructed at a cost of $1,595 ($16,741 USD in 2025) sometime around 1963. The 425-square foot structure was partitioned into three rooms: living area, bedroom, and bathroom.
