Discovery and name

Mount Swan was discovered and mapped by the United States Antarctic Service (1939–41). It was named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Paul Swan, airplane pilot with the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1933–35).

The Baron of Swan draws the name of his title from this mountain.
