The Institute grew out of Westarctica's mission to educate the public about [[Global warming|Climate Change]] and it associated threats to the [[West Antarctic Ice Sheet]]. It began with a single training course, the Honorary Consul Training Course, which was launched in 2016 to help prepare [[Foreign Minister|Foreign Office]] diplomats for the duties as representatives of Westarctica in their home countries. | |||
