Lord John Gordon, Viscount Thetford, was appointed directly to the position of Prime Minister by Emperor Jonathan I on 1 June 2020 following the previous Prime Minister's resignation. This was done under the provisions of the emergency powers that the Emperor had temporarily assumed during the political crisis at that time.
