The Barony of Brandenburg is one of three baronies inside the Colony of Calsahara. Baron of Brandenburg is a peerage title in the Nobility of Calsahara. Its motto is: "The Gateway to Calsahara." The barony's name was derived from the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the Brandenburg Concertos by Bach. Many of the places in Calsahara were named in honor of movies and songs, and Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 is Grand Duke Travis' favorite song.

Brandenburg is a narrow strip of land located on the border with the United States. It runs along the shore of the Seven Seas of Rhye inside the Duchy of Chutney and Monte Cristo County. The barony is an important place in Calsahara as it contains the only navigable entry and exit point to enter or leave the colony in a vehicle. This point, a natural depression which sometimes floods, is called "the Brandenburg Gate," although there is no gate present. It is located entirely inside the Principality of Rhye.

Whaling in Japan is estimated to have begun around the 12th century. However, Japanese whaling on an industrial scale began around the 1890s when Japan began to participate in the modern whaling industry, at that time an industry in which many countries participated. Japanese whaling activities have historically extended far outside Japanese territorial waters, even into whale sanctuaries protected by other countries.

Starting in 2016, Westarctica took an active approach to fight Japan's illegal whaling operation in the Southern Ocean. Westarctica's primary weapon of war involves publicly shaming executives and scientists who work for the Japanese whaling companies. It has also created public service advertisements (distributed through paid ads on Facebook) to encourage Japanese citizens to boycott whale meat.
