His Excellency, Christopher Watson, KtS, is a member of the Royal Council and Westarctica's current Foreign Minister.

Biography

Watson joined the military of the United Kingdom in early 2007 and served for 11 years. His service included three deployments to Afghanistan in 2009, 2011, and 2012. After leaving the UK military, he accepted contract positions in Serbia and then Iraq with the United States Department of Defense.

In 2019, he was recalled to service for an additional four years. Following that, he briefly worked with the Maritime Volunteer Service (Royal Auxiliary Navy) and served as a search and rescue volunteer with the International Rescue Corps.

Watson currently works in EMS ambulance services.

Early career with Westarctica

In his own words, Watson joined Westarctica "because its values, mission, and culture align with my own commitment to conservation, protection, and service."

In February 2025, he first reached out to Grand Duke Travis offering his services to the Government of Westarctica as a diplomatic representative in the Honorary Consular Corps. Given his robust experience, Watson was appointed Vice-Consul to Scotland. Once the resignation of Baroness Fallone was confirmed, he was promoted to fill her vacancy as Consul-General to the United Kingdom. This was roughly concurrent with his appointment as Deputy Foreign Minister.

As Deputy Foreign Minister, Watson was assigned the monumental task of reforming the entire Honorary Consular Corps, which had fallen into a state of inactivity since the departure of the 1st Duke of Goldstream. Within a few short weeks, he successfully revitalized the Foreign Office by firing inactive consuls, hiring new consuls, and generally getting the diplomatic roster current again. The capstone to these efforts came when Watson performed an in-person investiture of the Baroness Fallone as a Dame in the Order of the Orca on behalf of the Grand Duke.

Jain affair

In July 2025, the Jain affair caused significant distress for the Foreign Office and Westarctica's international reputation. Watson immediately too charge, managing the scandal in his capacity as Deputy Foreign Minister. Within hours of the first press releases, Watson began damage control operations and coordinated the flow of information to members of the Royal Council.

Foreign Minister

On 11 August 2025, the Senate of Westarctica voted to deny the Count of Dorchuck's appointment as Foreign Minister, causing his immediate retirement from the role. The Senate subsequently voted to confirm Watson as the new Foreign Minister, and he assumed the role that day.
