The Early Islands are a group of small islands off the Walgreen Coast of Westarctica. They lie immediately west of the Cosgrove Ice Shelf in the southeastern section of Ferrero Bay near Molar Island.

Discovery and name

The United States Geological Survey mapped the islands based on its own surveys and aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Early Islands in 1970 in honor of the American biologist Tommy Joe Early of Ohio State University, who worked in Ellsworth Land during the 1968 and 1969 research seasons.
