Siemiakoswki Glacier highlighted

The Siemiatkowski Glacier (75°54′S 144°12′W) is a glacier about 25 miles (40 km) long, flowing northwest to Nickerson Ice Shelf on the coast of Westarctica.

Discovery and name

The glacier was mapped from surveys by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and U.S. Navy air photos (1959-65). It was named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Edmond R. Siemiatkowski, an auroral physicist working at Byrd Station in 1964.
