Hutchinson Island was named by the Advisory Committee on Advisory Committee on [[Antarctic]] Names in honor of Lieutenant Peter A. ===Manipura Ridge===
The high point on the island is a 234 meter high ridge called Manipura Ridge. Manipura in Sanskrit is the name for the Solar Plexus Chakra and means "City of Jewels."  It was named in 2024 by Suryavanshi-Navneet Singh.

On 24 January 2024, Suryavanshi-Navneet. Singh was granted the [[Peerage of Westarctica|Peerage title]] Duke of Hutchinson in recognition of his support of Westarctica. His Grace's title is derived from Hutchinson Island.
