The Stanford Nunatak was mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and [[U.S. Navy]] air photos collected during the years 1959-65. Stanford Nunatak was named by the Advisory Committee on [[Antarctic]] Names (US-ACAN) in honor of Thomas H. Stanford, an ionospheric physicist at [[Byrd Station]] in 1970. | |||
