Mintz Peak (76°53′S 126°3′W) is a small peak rising above the southeast corner of Mount Hartigan in the Executive Committee Range in Westarctica.
Discovery and name
It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy photography taken from 1958–60. Mintz Peak was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Jerome Mintz, a Meteorological Electronics Technician at Byrd Station in 1959.
Mintz died in December 2010.
Peerage title
On 3 February 2005, Michael Whyte was granted the peerage title Count of Mintz for his work as Westarctica's Deputy Minister of Information. The Count was later promoted to the cabinet post of Minister of Immigration.
