Recely Bluff

Recely Bluff is a snow and rock bluff on the northeast slope of Mount Siple on Siple Island.

The bluff is 7 nautical miles (13 km) northeast of the summit of the mountain.

Discovery and name

It was mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy aerial photography from 1959–65. It was named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Frank J. Recely, Jr., an American ionospheric physicist at Byrd Station in 1965.

Peerage title

On 10 January 2025, Thomas Williams was granted the peerage title Count of Recely in recognition of his support of Westarctica. His Lordship's title is so-named for Recely Bluff.
