The Micronation Space Cooperation Treaty is a micronational agreement concerning the utilization of outer space.

Signing of the Micronation Space Cooperation Treaty

It was conceived by John Farr of West Who and signed in Niagara Falls, Canada by the Aerican Empire, Slabovia, and Westarctica. Many micronations subsequently joined the treaty as signatory nations.

Background

Micronational exploration of outer space is thought to have began with the backyard rocket program launched by the Republic of Molossia in the late 1990s. This program inspired other micronations to undertake similar operations, the most impressive being when the Kingdom of Vikesland sent their flag into low earth orbit in 2009 by use of a high-altitude weather balloon.

Starting in 2019, Slabovia organized a series of exercises in simulated space environments involving other micronational militaries. Two of the most prominent of these were Exercise: Westarctic Chill and Exercise: MOSTLY HARMLESS. These led to the creation of an organization devoted to peaceful utilization of outer space by micronations called the Micronational Outer Space Taskforce (MOST).

Creation of treaty

John Farr of West Who created the West Who Space Agency as a means to recognize the great love his population has for the exploration of space. He felt there was need to create a set of standards among other micronationalists with regard to the exploitation of outer space and realms beyond our planet.

In lieu of this goal, the Micronational Space Cooperation Treaty was conceived in 2023. It is open to all micronations who wish to participate and follow its principles.

Content

The treaty is for the benefit of all people who wish to cooperate in the peaceful use of outer space while sharing a commitment to inspire other micronations to work together to advance space studies and exploration.

The core principles are: 1. Exchange of data and information to develop micronational space programs. 2. Joint work on launching a micronational micro-satellite. 3. Offering assistance to other micronation space agencies. 4. Dissemination of information regarding national space policies and plans. 5. Open sharing of scientific data.

Signatory nations

The nations which have signed the treaty as of 15 October 2025 include:

  • Republic of West Who
  • Republic of Oulienia
  • Socialist Republic of Cotter Menaceland
  • Republic of Sevoria
  • United Empire of Wellington
  • Myeong Commonwealth
  • Pearson Republic

A physical joint signing of the treaty was carried out by members of MOST on 12 October 2025 on the rooftop of the Sheraton Hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada during Operation: POLE DANCE. The three signatories were:
