The Favela Rocks (76°12′S 145°21′W) are a group of rocks at the northwest end of the Phillips Mountains, 4 nautical miles (7 km) northwest of Mount June.
Discovery and name
They were mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos (1959–65), and were named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Rafael Favela, Jr., U.S. Navy, an equipment operator in the Byrd Station winter party, 1967.
Peerage title
On 28 March 2018, John Sanders was granted the hereditary title Baron of Favela in recognition of his support of Westarctica.
