Phillips Mountains

The Phillips Mountains (76°16'00"S 145°00'00"W) are a range of mountains on the north side of Balchen Glacier and Block Bay in the Ford Ranges of Westarctica.

They should not be confused with "Mount Philips" in eastern Antarctica.

Discovery and name

The mountains were discovered by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-30) and named by Byrd in honor of Albanus Phillips, Sr., a manufacturer of Cambridge, Maryland, and patron of the Byrd expeditions.
