Weiss Amphitheater (77°4′S 126°6′W) is an amphitheater-like caldera, 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) wide and breached at the southern side, occupying the south-central part of Mount Sidley, in the Executive Committee Range of Westarctica.

Discovery and name

It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy trimetrogon photography collected during the years 1958–60. Weiss Ampitheater was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in honor of Bernard D. Weiss, Meteorologist-in-Charge at Byrd Station during the 1959 research season.
