There is a long, proud tradition of United States Navy involvement in the exploration and governance of both Westarctica and the entire continent of Antarctica. Pictured here is the USS Kearsarge, a U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship that was home to many of Westarctica's nobles from 2001 - 2004.

Grand Duke Travis was onboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) when he discovered the existence of Marie Byrd Land. Much of the Achaean Civil Code and Achaean Royal Charter were written onboard the same ship. During his late nights while standing 24-hour duty onboard the Kearsarge, Travis discovered and researched other micronations through the MicroFreedom Index.
