Regional Orders of Westarctica
The Regional Orders of Westarctica are a series of honors and awards which are created and bestowed by noble peers of Westarctica. These should not be confused with colonial orders, decorations, and awards which are administered by colonial viceroys on behalf of the Grand Duke of Westarctica.
All peers have the right to create their own "house orders" or "regional orders" related to their noble title or region over which they exercise authority; however, in practice, this is rarely done. Some Westarctican peers, such as the Count of Krigsvold, had their own house orders prior to joining Westarctica. These remain separate until the peer requests integration with the Orders of Westarctica.
Fons honorum
Although the Grand Duke of Westarctica is nominally the fons honorum of these orders, in practice, he does not exercise oversight or management over them. Peers who decide to create their own orders are responsible for the creation, maintenance, and distribution of associated regalia.
Order of the Tiger
The first regional order created by a peer of Westarctica was the Order of the Tiger, created in 2005 by the Duke of Moulton-Berlin. It was created as a personal order of friendship for the duke.
The order was named for the rampant Bengal tiger pictured on the duke's personal blazon. The colors of the medal drape and ribbon, blue and green, are derived from the blazon. The medal itself is a 3D molded metal tiger's head/face.
This order has been, possibly, one of the most famous in the entire history of Westarctica due to the Duke of Moulton-Berlin bestowing it upon President Kevin Baugh of Molossia in 2005. President Baugh added the medal to his uniform and has kept it as part of his official attire for the past 20 years, making it widely known and recognized.
Other early recipients include Grand Duke Travis and Eric I of Elsanor, who later joined Westarctica as the Baronet of Belteaux.
Order of St. Valentine
The Order of St. Valentine was created in 2005 to honor anyone who has "performed an act of Faith, Hope, or Charity of such magnitude as to attract His Grace's attention."
This order's regalia featured a small metal heart pendant with red enamel in the center suspended from a red and gray ribbon.
The first recipient of this honor was the Marquise of Walgreen during her time as royal consort to Grand Duke Travis. It was given in recognition of her work with Russian orphans.
Faulkender Medal of Friendship
This award was created in 2025 by the Duke of Faulkender to recognize friendship among micronationalists and fellow Westarcticans to the Duchy of Faulkender. The regalia features a medal showing clasped hands joined in friendship hung from a ribbon drape in red and gray. The ribbon is unintentionally identical to that used for the Order of St. Valentine (created 20 years earlier). The back of the medal is engraved with the name of the award.
His Grace distributed numerous medals to the attendees of MicroCon 2025.
Braubar Medal of Merit
This award was also created in 2025 by the Duke of Faulkender in his capacity as Count of Braubar in the Nobility of Kolios, a colony of Westarctica. The Medal of Merit is intended to recognize acts of merit which enhance the County of Braubar.
The regalia for the award is a gold medal with highly reflective shine showing a radiating star. It is attached to a ribbon drape with black and orange colors. The back of the medal is engraved with the name of the award and "KOL" for "Protectorate of Kolios."
These medals were awarded to several attendees of MicroCon 2025.
