The '''[[Gothic Mountains]]''' is a group of mountains, 32 kilometers (20 mi) long, in the [[Queen Maud Mountains]] of [[Westarctica]], located west of [[Watson Escarpment]] and bounded by [[Scott Glacier]], Albanus Glacier, and Griffith Glacier. The mountains were first visited in December 1934 by the [[Richard E. Byrd|Byrd Antarctic Expedition]] geological party led by Quin Blackburn. The name was proposed by Edmund Stump, leader of a U.S. [[Antarctica|Antarctic]] Research Program (USARP) - Arizona State University geological party which made investigations here in the 1980-81 season. The mountains are composed of granites which have weathered to produce a series of spires and peaks reminiscent of a Gothic cathedral.

The Honorable Daniel McHenry is the father of Grand Duke Travis, the ex-husband of the Countess of Benton, as well as the paternal grand-father of both Prince Ashton Roman and Prince Daniel Nicholas. Since 2015, Daniel has served as Westarctica's Consul to the Borough of Stillwater, a tiny town in rural Pennsylvania that was founded by the McHenry family in the late 1700s. The Flag of Westarctica is flown on the Consulate's flagpole each winter after the first snowfall and also whenever Grand Duke Travis is in residence. This image was captured during the "Summer of Diplomacy" when the Grand Duke visited several micronations and participated in several diplomatic summits in an effort to raise Westarctica's diplomatic profile.
