Prince Ashton Roman is the eldest son of Grand Duke Travis. As first in the Line of Succession, he is the designated Crown Prince and Heir Apparent to the throne of Westarctica. He is also the half-brother of Prince Daniel Nicholas.
Early life
When Ashton was born, both his parents were still members of the United States Navy, while his father was also serving as the Consul-General of the Achaean Territory, the predecessor state to Westarctica. Due to the Consul-General's ability to grant virtually any title he wished to members of the Royal Family, he chose to make Ashton the heir to the office of Consul-General and gave him the title Prince Imperial of Achaea. He was also given the title Grand Duke of Byrd (at a time when there were two other Grand Dukes in the Achaean Territory).
Prince Ashton held these titles until all titles were "normalized" during the June/July transition of the Achaean Territory to the Grand Duchy of Westarctica. At this time, he became the Archduke of Westarctica and retained the position of Heir Apparent. He was also made Viceroy of Peter I Island, the ceremonial title for the eldest son of the Grand Duke.
Loss of status
In 2006, when his father abdicated the throne of Westarctica, Archduke Ashton lost his royal titles and became a common citizen.
Later, in 2012, when Travis restored the monarchy and again took the title of Grand Duke, it was decided that Ashton's younger brother, Prince Daniel Nicholas, would become the new Archduke and hold the position of Heir Apparent. However, Ashton's princely title was restored as well as his ceremonial position of Viceroy of Peter I Island.
Crown Prince
In 2018, after the events leading to the liberation of Calsahara, the Grand Duke decided to abolish the title of Archduke altogether and reappoint Prince Ashton as Crown Prince and Heir Apparent. This status was confirmed on 2 April 2020 by Royal Decree in accordance with the Constitution of Westarctica.
Titles
As part of the 20th Anniversary Honors and Appointments celebrating Westarctica's 20 years of sovereignty, Grand Duke Travis bestowed the peerage title Prince of Storfallet upon his son as well as the title Duke of Hazard in the Nobility of Calsahara.
