Legion of Peace
The Legion of Peace is an Order of Westarctica intended to recognize the promotion of peace. It was originally an Order of Calsahara created by King Montague in 2009. It was among the first orders created by the King as an expression of Calsahara's peace-loving culture.
The Legion was incorporated into the Orders of Westarctica on 11 March 2021 by Royal Decree issued by Grand Duke Travis.
The order is limited to 40 Legionnaires.
Composition and regalia
The head of the Legion is known as the General of the Legion of Peace and wears an elaborate khaki uniform with gold epaulettes and a peaked cap. From the formation of the order, the General of the Legion has been Grand Duke Travis, although when he assumed the role, he was the King of Calsahara.
Members of the legion are known as Legionnaires and are entitled to wear the regalia of the order, which is a silver peace symbol mounted upon a white drape ribbon. Certificates for the Legionnaires contain a write-up listing the specific deeds which led to their receipt of the honor. This is different from Westarctica's other orders, which use generic language associated with the award, but do not include why it was given to the individual honoree.
Legionnaires
The first two members of the Legion of Peace were the Duke of Waesche and the Grand Duke of Flandrensis who were invested as Legionnaires due to their peaceful settlement of the Siple War.
During his reign as the King of Vikesland, Prince Christopher was given the medal of the Legion just prior to MicroCon 2015 in recognition of his peaceful handling of various internal conflicts in his nation.
The leaders of the micronations of Lostisland and Aigues-Mortes were jointed awarded membership in the Legion after they met together in Tel Aviv to finally settle the many years of conflict between them. Grand Duke Travis personally reached out to each recipient and congratulated them on the peaceful resolution, then presented the awards at MicroCon EU 2023 in Ypres, Belgium.
